Jiahe Liang

Research Assistant

Jiahe Liang is a graduate student in the Department of City and Regional Planning at Cornell University. His research focuses broadly on the nexus among inter-governmental relations, local government responses, and spatial inequality in the US and China. He is also interested in the interplay of state-market relations and urban transformation within different governance contexts. Currently, he is involved in projects examining state-to-local policy, local fiscal stress, and economic growth. He seeks to combine theoretical perspectives from urban geography, planning, and public administration in his research.

Prior to his graduate studies, he participated in projects studying inter-city cooperation, county-level urbanization and environmental sustainability. He was given awards by the Macau S.A.R Government Scholarship (2019-2022) and the Honors Student Academic Scholarship (2021-2023). He received his bachelor’s degree in public administration from the Chu Kochen Honors College, Zhejiang University, China.
