tRUST-lab Identifies Short-Term and Long-Term Strategies for Gordon Park on Cleveland's East Lakefront

December 2023

Working closely with partners at LAND studio, the tRUST-lab team provided visionary landscape infrastructure strategies for the future of Gordon Park South, the east lakefront, and St. Clair-Superior. Seeking both short-term, implementable ideas as well as more aspirational and visionary thinking, students in the LA6010 studio in the Department of Landscape Architecture worked in teams to "re-imagine" and "re-capture" the park and lakefront for people - creating new circulation routes and a bold land bridge over the Cleveland Memorial Shoreway (I-90) to connect the park to the water. Final reviewers included representatives from the City of Cleveland, Metroparks, St. Clair Superior Community Development Corporation, LAND studio and others.

tRUST-lab Completes 15-Minute Neighborhood Study for Buckeye/Woodhill, Cleveland

December 2023

Students in the Fall 2023 CRP5072 Urban Design workshop course have completed a semester-long engagement studying the application of the 15-Minute City concept to the neighborhood of Buckeye/Woodhill in southeast Cleveland. Initial mapping and "ground truthing" in Cleveland led to a series of site-specific recommendations to support ongoing resident and city-led initiatives that seek to regenerate this working class neighborhood and bring needed amenities and infrastructure improvements. Working in teams of 3, the students completed narrative ArcGIS StoryMaps for four distinct focus areas around the Buckeye/Woodhill RTA transit station. The work will continue to be valuable to community change makers and city staff in an ongoing dialogue about next steps for neighborhood improvements and growth.
