Deborah Carlin

Researcher

Deborah is a recent graduate of the CALS MPS program at Cornell, where she studied urban ecology and climate adaptation within the Department of Natural Resources and the Environment. She previously worked as an environmental educator with organizations such as City Parks Foundation and Wildlife Conservation Society in New York City, where she witnessed the transformative effect that urban ecosystems can have on urban youth.  These experiences, along with a passion for solving the climate crisis, molded her current interests in equitable adaptation planning, design and implementation of nature-based solutions, and coastal resiliency. Deborah holds a BS in Environmental Science and a BA in Art from Muhlenberg College.

With the Adaptive Land Lab, Deborah supports the "Cooperative Strategies for Just and Ecological Adaptation to Flooding in New York City" project. Her research focuses on the ways in which condos and co-ops have responded to past flooding disasters and assesses the accessibility of current disaster and adaptation aid for these housing forms.
