Katie Tindol

Researcher

Katie Tindol is a Master of Regional Planning student at Cornell University. Prior to graduate school she obtained a BA in Economics and BS in Interdisciplinary Studies from the University of Alabama. She also spent a year as a visiting student at the London School of Economics, in their Government Department. Before returning to graduate school Katie worked for the Walker Area Community Foundation in Alabama, where she collaborated on economic development planning projects with the Regional Planning Commission of Greater Birmingham, and co-wrote many grants for projects alongside nonprofit partner Wild Alabama within the Bankhead National Forest. Katie aspires to pursue a planning career that impacts land use and environmental planning challenges. She is confident that effective planning can position disinvested regions to utilize their land and natural resources for equitable development. She is particularly passionate about the environmental conservation and sustainable development of historically disinvested communities such as Southern Appalachia, the Tennessee Valley and Alabama’s Black Belt.

In the Adaptive Land Lab, Katie provides research support for the ACSP Task Force on Climate Change. She also provides grant writing, research and data analysis support for multiple initiatives of the Lab.
